Choose a clone plug by controlled facility trials, not by appearance alone. Record tray geometry, cultivar, cutting stage, environmental setpoints, irrigation and handling observations together.
Match the plug to the clone tray
Send the tray brand, cell count, top opening, bottom opening, cell depth and cell shape before selecting samples. Confirm dry and hydrated fit without forcing a plug into the cell.
- Photograph the empty tray beside a ruler or caliper.
- Note whether plugs are loaded manually or by equipment.
- Confirm drainage clearance and the intended removal method.
Define a comparable trial
Run the candidate and current propagation media with the same cultivar, cutting preparation, tray, environment and observation schedule. Label every treatment and retain the sample model and shipment reference.
- Separate treatments clearly within the propagation area.
- Record dates instead of relying on memory.
- Keep environmental and irrigation changes in the trial log.
Record hydration and irrigation inputs
Document the initial wetting method, water or nutrient-solution information, application volume, frequency and drainage observations. A media comparison is difficult to interpret when irrigation inputs are missing.
Evaluate rooted-plug handling
At the facility-defined evaluation point, record removal from the cell, root-zone integrity, visible deformation and transplant handling. Use the same handling sequence for the control and candidate plug.
Confirm compliance and procurement scope
This page is intended for lawful, licensed commercial cultivation. The buyer remains responsible for crop, import and local regulatory requirements. Before ordering, confirm the selected model, packaging, documents, destination and approved sample reference with sales.
Buyer evaluation matrix
| Trial factor | Record | Procurement use |
|---|---|---|
| Tray fit | Cell geometry and dry/hydrated fit | Selects candidate format |
| Crop setup | Cultivar, cutting stage and dates | Keeps groups comparable |
| Environment | Facility setpoints and trial zone | Frames observations |
| Irrigation | Method, timing and solution record | Explains media response |
| Handling | Cell removal and transplant notes | Tests workflow compatibility |
Send the crop or application, tray dimensions, current workflow, destination, expected volume range and required evidence with the inquiry. MCCS sales can then discuss the most relevant sample and evaluation route.
